RE: Question about hot water heater drain plug with zinc anode

On mine it finaly reached 50 percent this last summer, it was the first time it was replaced and the camper was built in 1999. Seems like it was about $12.00 so by not replacing it every year I used the $100.00 to buy fuel.

RE: converter or battery

Do this test, hook up voltage tester to battery, (after it is charged up), what is the reading while you are trying to move slide? If it is droppig off a lot, say 10V or below then it is probably the battery. JMHO

RE: Who is a four season TC'er?

More than once we have awoke in the morning and it was in the teens, once we were headed home and stopped @ DS house after a 5 week outing and when we got up the next morning the roads were closed and was that way for the next 3 days. Just drug out another blanket for the nights and played with the grandkids in the daytime, great way to end a 2000 mile trip. So fall, spring, and summer were a breeze from then on.

RE: K&N Intake Kit

Try using the search box @ top of page, just type in K&N, lots of info there, my take is there are more NO,s than YESes in the readings. JMHO

RE: Effectiveness of Foam Pipe Insulation

Something to remember about pipe insulation, if you wrap your pipes in the basement area that is heated, it will hamper the heat getting into the pipes as well as cold. So you must decide wheather the insulation will help or hinder.

RE: window eyebrow/drip visor

Several years ago, I seen some advertized that were placed on the leading edge of a camper window that would deflect water if you were traveling down the road but nothing that went above the window. Did some searches on the web and found nothing, hopfully someone will be able to help.

RE: fridge fan ?

We put one in our frig, it runs constantly while we are camping. We have noticed that the inside temp is the same top and bottom, have moved the thermometer around and only found about 1/2 degree differance, Ours is placed about center on top shelf in the rear so it blows over the fins.

RE: Water Pump

It is right, there is no pressure in the system and untill you fill the water heater, and all the lines with something the pump will try and bring it up to pressure. JMHO

RE: Newbie to TC

When we ran into our TC, it was a used one -- also out of production, they went under like some are now -- but was one of the best ones made @ the time so as far as brand it is like "which do you like best FORD, CHEVY, or DODGE" they all make good vehicle it comes down to what you like in the rig and makes YOU and the WIFE happy.

RE: Newbie to TC

Welcome to the Life of a TCer, hope you enjoy it as my wife and I do. Buying the right rig will be a trial and error experience so best suggestion is go into each rig, spend some time in each one, look in every nook and cranny while the (two) of you are in there -- try and get a feeling what it will be like in the smaller quarters and try and visualize where you will put things you think you might "have to have" with you. Our rig is in my signature, no slides and is not a BIG camper, 8'11", been a lot of places with our dog and the toad. You will get a lot of suggestions as to what other people think is the best but remember this -- it is the one that fits them and not you. So your choice will end up being what fits you and not someone else. Good Luck in your hunt. JMHO

RE: The smaller they get....

If you look @ the flow line, you could pull it with the camper up and not create much of an air drag and save on setup, breakdown time --- could spend more time in the lounge mode with a cool one. JMHO

RE: Propane tanks in Class A RV's....

Not sure about the "A" but when we had a "C" the tank was underneith, (6 Gallon) bolted to frame, and was "filled onboard" just like the bottles on our TC (two twenty pounders) (do not have to be removed). Mine lay flat, bolted in and have the same large fill conection with OPD valves just like the "C" had.

RE: 05 Beaver-Does not acknowledge Honda 2000i Generator

What was the voltage being put out by the "Onan"? Sounds like the auto transfer switch needs to sense a higher voltage to trip over. JMHO

RE: 12 volt wiring question

My opinion, which I have been told a few times to keep to myself is this, there needs to be an isolater of some type put in the truck, the campers I have worked on do not have any type of system in the TC, Camper, or trailer to keep from draining the truck battery. There are a lot of options, you mentioned two, you can also unplug the TC, trailer, camper when you park for the night, some have a blade disconnect under the hood, some have a simple off / on switch. Which ever system you use be sure it will carry the amps you will be running thru it. JMHO
